Synopsis:
Gloria Duque, a Spanish woman living in Mexico City, works as a prostitute, One night she witnesses a confrontation between gangsters and the police. One of the policemen, before he dies, hands her a notebook, which contains addresses of all of the money laundering operations in the world. Soon after, Gloria is deported from Mexico and returns penniless to Madrid to live with her mother in law. The only things she has are an old suitcase and a paralyzed husband, a former toreador. In a desperate attempt to continue living normally, she unsuccessfully tries to find a job. Finally she decides to use information from the notebook in order to get her hands on some money. In 1995, this film won the Goya award in the categories of Best Film, Screenplay, Main and Supporting actor, Production, Music, and Editing. Victoria Abril received the Golden Shell at the San Sebastian film festival as the best actress because of this film.
