Synopsis:
Maoist group Sendero Luminoso, which terrorized Peru in the 1980’s and early 1990’s, raped women, whose terror was then transferred to their children through breastfeeding and thus took away their souls. Young Fausta suffers from that syndrome, the so-called “milk of sorrow”. She is a timid and introverted girl who has to cope with her fears after her mother passes away.
The film won 11 awards at festivals and was nominated for an Oscar.
