Almodóvar is a Spanish director and screenwriter. At sixteen, he moved to Madrid tyo study film. When he could not enroll into a school, (Franco had closed it), he went to work in the national telecommunication company as an administrative assistant. That was where he got most of his life education, where he met many different characters from the middle and working class, which he later vividly portrayed in his films. He has directed around twenty films. His first film that attracted critical attention was Pepi, Luci, Bom y otras chicas del montón (1980), while others include Matador (1986), Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios (1988), ˇÁtame! (1990), Tacones lejanos (1991), Kika (1993), Flor de mi secreto (1995), Carne trémula (1997), Todo sobre mi madre (1999), Hable con ella (2002), La mala educación (2004). Many of his films have won awards in multiple categories at leading film festivals around the world.
