Program of Films by the brothers Taviani

We begin this autumn season in Tuškanac with the cinematheque program of films directed by the great couple, brothers Paolo and Vittorio Taviani. We will show four of their films and the first one on program is The Lark Farm, adaptation of Antonia Arslan’s novel about the horrible genocide of Armenian people committed by Turks. Next on program is the war drama The Night of the Shooting Stars with fairy-tale and fantastic elements that won an award in Cannes. The third film is the Silver Bear winning Caesar Must Die that is mostly shot in black and white technique. It is a story about prisoners who are preparing for a performance of Shakespeare’s Julius Ceasar on stage and who learn how to deal with their mutual conflicts while rehearsing the play and the text. This program ends with the film Chaos, film omnibus of four stories and an epilogue by the Italian writer Pirandello. It is one of the best films in the brothers’ career.
