We invite you to watch with us some of anthological films that include very different national, genre and author styles and poetics. Each screening is preceded by an introductory discussion accompanied by audiovisual materials about the importance of each film as well as the author and his opus as a whole.

Hosts of the program are Marko Rojnić (foreign films) and Tomislav Šakić (Croatian films).

Synopsis:

Boraveći u udaljenu primorskom selu u potrazi za kukcima, tokijski entomolog propusti posljednji autobus pa mu seljani odluče pomoći pronaći smještaj kod mlade udovice koja živi u trošnoj kolibi na dnu dine. Sljedećeg jutra uviđa da ne može izaći iz dine, jer su ga seljani zatočili maknuvši ljestve kojima se spustio, a sve kako bi ostao pomagati ženi u sizifovskom poslu prikupljanja pijeska. Nakon par neuspješnih pokušaja bijega, oni se upuštaju u ljubav...

A surreal film with a structure that is more dream-like than classically structured, examines the themes of memory, truth and reality. In a large, opulent, palace-like hotel, a handsome stranger approaches a woman, claiming to have met her before. In fact, they met exactly a year ago in Marienbad and arranged another meeting for this time. She claims that she doesn't remember him. Another man, her companion and maybe husband, deflects the first man's advances, outplaying him in small games......

Synopsis:

A young assembler, Ivo Bajsic, commits suicide, jumping off of a skyscraper in the middle of town. His suicide is the biggest news on front pages and causes interest in his fate. But nobody knows why the young man killed himself. Through flashbacks we learn the hard life of the young man. The leading role is played by Bekim Fehmiu, one of the rare Albanian film actors in the cinematography of former Yugoslavia.
